regcure review
Regcure review conducted by Greg McKenzie.
Produced by PareToLogic Inc, RegCure has been well put together with an easy to use interface. You can select which entries to scan your registry as well as choose which entries to correct and which not to correct. This gives you added protection so you can remove entries from the fix list before needed entries are removed.
summary
The below table summarises the results of the regcure review test:

review description
This review was conducted for six different registry software applications. Before running any of the registry software the start up and shut down times of the pc were measured. A scan and repair were then conducted three times in a row, with the final time introducing the start up management feature. The test was designed to check that there was consistency with regards to checking errors and ensuring there was a reduction in errors each time regcurescanned the registry. Secondly it was to check the differences in start up and shut down times and to check if there was an improvement in time and lastly to check the responsiveness of the computer and whether it felt sharper and more responsive after the registry repairs. Here are the regcure review results:
initial scan :
on the first scan, Regcure picked up 875 problems with the pc.
On running the repair utility on regcure the results came back that all the problems had been fixed. At this point the machine was shut down and restarted. The machine started up 14 seconds faster than originally which was a little disappointing for the regcure review, but working on the computer felt faster. Applications still took a long time to load but this was more due to the memory and speed of the computer. What was nice was the sharpness of the computers response.
scan two:
On the second scan, Regcure found 177 problems.
I was surprised that this number was so high and not sure whether these were new problems that were found or just previous errors that were not fixed. These errors were repaired by Regcure and the process was started again. The shutdown was 21 seconds faster than before.
Start-up was 18 seconds faster than originally measured.
scan three and Start up management:
The third scan picked up 118 errors.
A worrying aspect was that COM/ActiveX errors actually increased from the previous scan. A final repair was conducted and the Start up management utility was now used. After this the shut down speed decreased by a further 3 seconds.
Start up speed was now increased by 1 minute and 1 second. This was an overall improvement of 26% in speed.
regcure review: overall impressions
This was probably the easiest of all the registry software to use. The software feels well put together and professional. In this regcure review I was not entirely sure about the 875 errors
Although it was not the most effective registry cleaner in this test it is enormously popular and is the top choice for a number of people. It will be interesting to run this application on a computer with different specification and see what the regcure review outcome is.
